HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2005 STATE OF FAIR HOUSING REPORT

In April, HUD issued an Annual Report detailing discrimination complaints and trends. Between October 2004 and September 2005, HUD and state and local partners handled 9,254 complaints of housing discrimination. Of these complaints, 40% involved allegations of disability discrimination (20% of which involved failure to make reasonable accommodations), and 38% involved allegations of racial discrimination. Nearly one-third of these complaints resulted in settlement.
